Can you play it? There’s not much more to say about Fortnite that hasn’t already been said. Chances are your grandfather who can’t use a mouse has heard of Fortnite. Fortnite has become synonymous with video games to the point where whenever I tell someone I write about games they say, “Oh yeah, my [son, daughter, whatever] loves Fortnite.” To be clear, though, the adoration is warranted. We’ve never seen a game quite like Fortnite, particularly when it comes to the ever-changing map and modes. As a free-to-play game, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try Fortnite. It’s available on every current-generation console, PC, and mobile device. The cartoonish visuals are inviting and it never takes itself too seriously. While the shooting mechanics aren’t top-notch, the on-the-fly building feature is a marvel. Plus, it’s fun to see what changes will come next to the map, as Epic continues to tell a long-running story of sorts with each major change.

Monster video strain resource game pick of the day : Though Quantum Break is undeniably a very pretty game, the reason for its ludicrous PC requirements (the unofficial ones, mind you – not the bogus, unrealistically low ones that Microsoft claims) are due almost entirely to its nightmarish lack of optimization. Few PC ports can hold a candlestick to how poorly executed this one was, at least for the first few months after its launch. With abysmal frame rates on strong graphics cards, constant driver crashes and a host of other issues, Quantum Break on PC has never been the experience it was meant to be. With that in mind, it certainly lives up to our title – if you want a gorgeous and demanding game for your PC, give this bad boy a whirl. You’ll be lucky to hit 60 fps on max settings with anything less than a NASA Pleiades supercomputer. “Recommended” specs (aim higher): CPU: 3.9GHz Intel Core i5-4690 – RAM: 16GB – Storage: 42.3GB – GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 390 – OS: 64-Bit Windows 10. I like Star Wars games and usually this games are resource intensive. It may have launched itself into a scandal with an initial build that put way too much focus on microtransactions, but subsequent updates to Star Wars Battlefront II have transformed it into an easy game to love. It has the epic multiplayer battles, heaps of characters, loads of nerdy references, and an engaging story that centres on an attention-grabbing new character named Iden Versio (an Imperial-turned-Rebel played brilliantly by Janina Gavankar). The show-stealing moment in the campaign falls to Luke Skywalker, here voiced by Matthew Mercer, who takes part in an emotionally-satisfying scene that lasts long in the memory. Hands up if you remember this one first time around? Arguably the most influential game on this list, Atari’s vector-based take on the Star Wars universe was revolutionary in its day. Though it seems quaint now, the super-fast line art and digitised voice over work of Star Wars Arcade seemed out of this world in 1983. Even know, the Death Star trench run as depicted here has its charm, a precursor to the on-rails shooters that would dominate arcades in the decades to come, as well as setting the standard for X-Wing flight sims of the future. Definitely worth popping a coin in if you manage to track down the machine still working in a dusty corner of an arcade somewhere.
